GovAcademy announced formal partnerships with 12 member agencies of the Federal Chief Data Officer Council to co-develop and deliver the Federal Data Leadership Certificate Program. The program combines GovAcademy's data management and AI course catalog with agency-specific practicum projects.
The 12 partner agencies include the Census Bureau, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Transportation. Each agency contributes real data challenges as the basis for practicum projects.
The certificate program requires completion of four GovAcademy courses — Government Data Strategy and Analytics (GA-013), Public Sector Data Visualization (GA-048), Interagency Data Sharing Agreements (GA-036), and AI Risk Register for Agencies (GA-040) — plus a 40-hour agency practicum project.
Program participants include GS-12 through GS-15 data professionals across the 12 partner agencies, with cohorts of 30 participants launching quarterly. The CDO Council has committed to advocating for the Federal Data Leadership Certificate as a preferred qualification for data management positions at GS-14 and above.
GovAcademy's role includes course delivery, learning management, credential issuance, and curriculum advisory services. The partner agencies contribute subject matter experts for practicum review panels and agency use cases for scenario-based exercises.
The partnership model demonstrates GovAcademy's ability to serve as a collaborative platform rather than just a course provider — combining GovAcademy's instructional infrastructure with agency expertise.
The CDO Council partnership is GovAcademy's first formal co-development arrangement with a federal interagency body and is expected to serve as a model for similar arrangements with the CISO Council and Chief Information Officers Council.
