OPM formally recognizes GovAcademy's Executive Diploma programs as qualifying continuing education for Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Programs.
The Office of Personnel Management formally recognized GovAcademy's Executive Diploma programs as qualifying continuing education for Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Programs. The recognition validates GovAcademy's Executive Diplomas for federal employees on leadership development tracks.
The recognition applies to three GovAcademy Executive Diploma programs: AI Governance for Public Sector Leaders (GA-002), Leadership in Digital Government (GA-034), and Executive Briefing: Cyber Risk for Directors (GA-012) — representing the full suite of technology governance competencies that OPM identifies as essential for senior federal executives.
OPM's assessment found that GovAcademy's Executive Diplomas meet criteria for qualifying continuing education in three areas: technical depth commensurate with senior executive responsibilities, practical application through scenario-based assessments, and credential quality verified through an independent assurance process.
The recognition enables federal agencies to count GovAcademy Executive Diploma completion toward the annual training requirements for SES members and SES Candidate Development Program participants. OPM estimates that approximately 9,000 SES members and 2,400 CDP participants could benefit.
Agency training officers who manage SES development programs have responded positively, with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Energy indicating plans to make Executive Diploma completion a standard requirement for senior executive development pathways.
The recognition process involved OPM's assessment team completing GA-034 Leadership in Digital Government as part of their evaluation, providing firsthand experience with GovAcademy's instructional quality.
GovAcademy is pursuing similar recognition conversations with the Intelligence Community's Chief Learning Officer community for application within the IC's leadership development programs.
